Bolivia, Japan ink geothermal project deal

“The government of Bolivia signed an agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the construction of the Laguna Colorada geothermal power plant…JICA has designated US$25mn for construction of the plant…[It] is slated to be completed and brought online in 2019…in the Sol de Mañana geothermal field in Bolivia's Potosí department and will have a substation and a transmission line connecting to the country's largest silver mine, San Cristóbal…Laguna Colorado is expected to add 50MW to the national grid at the outset and ultimately reach 100MW while Bolivia's current annual power demand is put at 1,350MW.” click here for more
