The promise is "clean" nuclear energy: The waste gets recycled, there is no danger of accidents and no fear of weapons proliferation. Well, Greenpeace ain't buyin' it.

British energy giant Centrica is in talks with the two largest French nuclear energy providers on the development of new nuclear facilities in the UK
WHEN
The new plants are hypothetical. The talks are on-going.
Britain has not built a new nuclear facility in 30 years. The ones discussed could not go into operation before 2017.
WHERE
East and west of the English Channel.
WHY
17 British nuclear facilities presently generate 20% of UK electricity.
New plants would cost $3 billion apiece.
EdF already buys and sells energy in Britain .
EU members france and Britain are committed to the EU goal of 20% renewable energy by 2020.
