Spain To Get Two Thermo-Solar Stations

WHAT
The two companies are will build 2 50-megawatt thermo-solar power stations.
WHEN
The 1st station is expected to come on line in 2009 and the 2nd will then begin construction.
WHERE
The stations will be built in Spain’s southwestern Extremadura province.
WHY
Cost: $809.3 million
Solar Technology: parabolic troughs
Solel Solar Systems Ltd. of Beit Shemesh, Israel, and Spain’s Grupo Sacyr Vallehermoso SA will invest $890 million to build three solar power stations, totaling 150 megawatts, using similar technology.
