WHAT
Duke bought the wind energy business Tierra from Energy Investors. (Investment banks and funds have been turning over wind and solar businesses lately as part of the boom – or bubble – in renewable energy.

WHEN
The purchase was May 29.

WHERE
Duke is based in Charlotte, NC , serves Cincinnati, OH, and northern Kentucky and operates Duke Power in the Carolinas; Tierra is Austin, Texas-based; Energy Investors is in Boston.

Duke acquires 1000megawatts of wind energy being developed by Tierra in the west and southwest at undisclosed terms as part of Duke Energy Generation Services, an energy investment subsidiary.
