THE ENERGY AWARE EXPRESS
Biofuels are not the best answer but they are ONE answer to a one-question multiple-choice test about the earth’s survival for which the correct answer is “(z) all of the above.”
Energy Aware Express Continues its Journey To Promote Renewable Energy
July 7, 2007 (PR Web via Yahoo News)
WHO
The Jenkins family of Nampa, Idaho
WHAT
The Jenkins are driving back and forth from Washington state to Maine in biodiesel fueled recreational vehicle (RV) propagandizing on behalf of renewable energy.

WHEN
They began June 25 and expect to travel for a month.
In 2005, 1-year-old Jessica was diagnosed with leukemia. After 2 years of treatment, she is expected to survive. The experience set new priorities for the family.
WHERE
Their travels began in Idaho, went through Salt Lake City and Denver, south of the Great Lakes and eastward. Plans indicate a trip up through New England next.
WHY
- To further their campaign for renewables, the family is looking to create an online community of interested people through the website chronicling their trip.
Vehicle: 2006 Gulfstream RV. Cost: $30,000. Sponsors: Simplot, Eagles Consulting, BioTeam LLC, C&J Enterprises Inc., Ferox Fuel Tabs; Jenkins is soliciting sponsorships.
- Biodiesel produces 60% the GHGs of petroleum diesel and fewer acid rain pollutants. Not an imported fuel, it is made from domestically grown crops.

QUOTES
Christina Jenkins: “We’ve always been interested in energy conservation and renewable energy and we wanted to combine that with public service…This will be a good learning experience and help spread the message of green, clean and renewable energy…Our country’s energy future is a huge issue, more so than ever in our history, and biodiesel and renewable energy have a role to play and need to be promoted…American farmers are already supplying us with biodiesel and there’s much more potential…We’re the most productive agricultural nation on earth and we could be supply a lot of our energy needs with it.”
