    Solar power may bring new jobs to Texas
    June 29, 2007 (UPI)

    WHAT
    The UT study suggests the growing Texas solar energy industry could generate 123,000 new Texas jobs.

    WHEN
    - Comments describing conclusions of a UC Berkeley study made June 29.
    - The evaluation was for the period through 2020.
    - Texas was 8th in the US in solar energy adoption in 2006.

    WHERE
    Austin, TX

    WHY
    - Texas has the best overall evaluation for year-round solar energy production in the US.
    - Solar energy produces 7-11 times more jobs, per megawatt produced, as coal.
    - Over the next decade and a half, 123,000 new high-wage, technology-related, advanced manufacturing and electrical services jobs are expected.
