Wind Industry Blows Into Manhattan

[Denise Bode, CEO, AWEA:] “From Mayor Bloomberg’s proclamation to our presence at the NASDAQ in Times Square, New York City will know that wind energy has arrived…Clean energy technologies like wind have a proven track record in creating high-quality jobs for American workers. The wind industry in the U.S. currently employs 85,000 people, and can continue to be a bright light in the economy as recovery begins and energy and climate legislation remains pending.”

"The economic recession and stimulus bill are changing the way wind projects are financed. AWEA’s Wind Power Finance & Investment Workshop, which [was] held at the New York Marriott Marquis, [covered] the latest financing twists and turns and [showed] how wind energy incentives will create new ways of financing projects and allow the industry to continue to grow….Specific topics [included project development, project ownership, the wind turbine supply chain, and financing projects under newly instated federal programs such as] the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA), U.S. Treasury grant program, [and] U.S. Department of Energy loan guarantee program…"
