ONTARIO FEED-IN TARIFF LEADS BOOM
Green energy contracts expected to add 20,000 jobs in Ontario

"The Ontario government is expecting the creation of about 20,000 jobs through nearly 700 green energy contracts throughout the province.
"The province announced 184 new green-energy contracts… in addition to 510 initiatives previously announced…[76 are ground-mounted solar, 1 is rofftop solar, 47 are onshore wind, 1 is offshore wind, 7 are biogas, 2 are biomass and 4 are landfill gas]…"

"Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty said the contracts, which are estimated to foster about 2,500 megawatts of energy -- enough to supply about 600,000 households -- are a continuation of the province's effort to create and maintain green-energy options…"

"…[As a result of the first feed-in tariff (FiT) in North America, Ontario has] Canada's largest solar- and wind-energy facilities…[and expects that its] expanding green-energy industry in Ontario could yield about $9-billion through private investors.
"In the last seven years, Ontario has produced [before the approval of the FiT] about 1,300 megawatts, which is enough renewable energy to fuel a city [of 200,000]..."
