Texas PUC: New Examination Reveals 'The Superiority Of Smart Meters'

"The Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) has released [Evaluation of Advanced Metering System in Texas ] reflecting Navigant Consulting's third-party analysis of smart meters installed in the state. The PUC maintains that the advanced meters are 'much more accurate than the ones they replace.'"
[Barry Smitherman, Chair, TPUC:] "This extraordinary and comprehensive study clearly shows the superiority of smart meters compared to traditional, electromechanical meters…"

"The commission says Navigant found that the meters tested exhibited an overall accuracy rate of 99.96%. Of more than 5,600 devices tested, only two registered erroneous readings. By comparison, an evaluation of test results from traditional meters showed an accuracy rate of 96%…"
