OFFSHORE WIND AND THE GLOBAL ECONOMY
Offshore under threat from economic conditions
James Quilter, 14 November 2011 (Windpower Monthly)
"Offshore wind projects in the Mediterranean and North American regions may now be under threat…
"…[A] worsening of the economic climate and a consequent lack of government support makes offshore wind development challenging in many North American and southern European markets…[because] offshore wind is still highly dependent on firm government backing…"

"…[O]ffshore wind [will likely] continue to grow in the UK, Germany and China…the three foundational pillars of offshore wind.
"By 2016, up to 75% of global offshore installations will come from these three markets…spurred on by sympathetic policies and financial backing."
