RED STATE LEADER DEFENDS WIND
REACTION TO: Wind Energy – A faith based Initiative
John Feehery, April 1, 2013 (The Journal)
“...As a life-long Republican who worked for former House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert, I know the importance of creating pro-growth policies that encourage the development of our natural energy resources. I am all for an all-of-the-above energy policy…But I also support a continuation of policies that drive money into people’s pockets…Our nation has abundant wind resources. By encouraging their development we can create a reliable, cost-effective electric grid.
“The private sector agrees and has been the driving force behind wind power development - especially in many traditionally ‘red’ states. In fact, $25 billion of private investment flowed into wind energy development last year alone. That investment occurred because…investors know that wind power works…”
“A recent Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory report demonstrated that technology improvements have improved the productivity of wind turbines…[and] greatly reduced the operating and maintenance costs. Also, wind plant owners only qualify for incentives when the project produces power, so the ability of a wind project to continue producing for its expected life is critical to the economics…
“Which do you trust - research lab data confirmed by investors with billions of dollars on the line - or claims made with no supporting data? …Over 550 facilities in 44 states are now involved in the wind component manufacturing supply chain. Nearly 70 percent of the content of the average wind turbine installed in the U.S. is domestically produced, and 75,000 Americans now work in the wind industry…This is an American success story…”

This is a self-named "Red State Leader" and he does not speak for anyone other than himself. He is certainly NOT a conservative, since he is in favor of grabbing massive subsidies (he should really check the negative tax rates of those "private" companies). Without massive amounts of government money, wind dies. It has all over Europe. It fails in every single measure except to make the rich richer and to raise power bills. Given the choice of believing the rich companies pulling in the money or real scientists and those not getting paid by wind, I choose the scientists and not the investors.
