It’s time to add wind power

Many of us wonder why NPPD is satisfied with a goal of 10 percent electrical generation from wind…The League of Women Voters of Nebraska urges…NPPD rate payers to contact their board member[s]…and let [them] know now is the time to act…Wind prices are at record low levels, competitive with the cheapest fossil fuels…The value of wind contracts made now will increase in the future, because prices can be locked in, unlike coal prices, which have risen by an average of 11 percent per year over the past 10 years and are likely to continue to increase significantly…In addition, wind development has the potential to provide thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of permanent jobs, reverse the trend of declining population in rural Nebraska and provide property tax relief…” click here for more
