    UK OFFSHORE WIND SETTING RECORDS

    Windy winter delivers power record for world's largest offshore wind farm; London Array produces 1.5TWh in the six months to April 2014, new figures confirm

    "High winds and stormy weather over the winter months helped the London Array, located off the Kent coast, power around 325,000 homes…London Array, a consortium between E.ON, Dong Energy and Masdar, yesterday confirmed that in the six months to the end of March 2014, the turbines produced 1.5TWh of electricity…[T]he 175 turbines recorded an availability of just over 96 per cent, and coupled with the ‘near perfect’ wind conditions in December and January the windfarm delivered a capacity factor of 56 per cent…London Array's good performance is in line with a record-breaking winter experienced by the UK wind industry as a whole…[R]enewables generated around 18 per cent of total UK electricity during the three-month period…” click here for more
