Ukraine sets wind energy target
Eugene Gerden, 8 October 2014 (Windpower Monthly)
“The Ukrainian government has issued a state decree calling for the country's wind capacity to reach 2.28GW by 2020, an increase of 500% on current figure of 410MW…[The] new state decree on the National Action Plan for the development of wind energy and other renewables in Ukraine for the period up to 2020 [was approved by the Ukrainian cabinet]…[T]he total volume of investments, both foreign and domestic in renewables should reach UAH 60-70 billion ($3.5-4.3 billion)…[Depending] on the further development of the situation in eastern Ukraine…the share of renewables in the country's energy mix should reach 11% by 2020…[but the plan] and the attraction of foreign investors may be under a threat due to a Ukrainian law on electric power that in effect stipulates local sourcing requirements [that] has already sparked critics from the Secretariat of the European Energy Community.” click here for more
