Solar power without solar panels? Yeloha thinks it has an answer

“Airbnb has made it fashionable to rent a room in a total stranger’s house…[ Yeloha wants to similarly] pair up property owners in relatively sunny areas with consumers who are looking to buy renewable energy, but can’t get solar panels on their own roofs…The startup says it can shave power bills on both ends of that equation because of government policies that encourage clean-energy use for consumers. It intends to make money by charging a fee on the initial set-up costs…The idea is a twist on previous models for group-owned solar farms, which are known as [community shared solar]. But instead of large banks of solar panels clustered in one place, Yeloha intends to aggregate groups of solar suppliers and consumers through its website…The startup plans to install solar panels free of charge on the buildings that volunteer their space, giving the property owners about 25 percent of the energy generated…” click here for more
