“…[The Christchurch City Council’s] infrastructure, transport and environment committee has recommended the council undertake a formal procurement process to secure an electric car fleet with zero tail pipe emissions…Council staff would report back to the committee on the preferred proposal and its affordability…[A council resolution in October proposed a 100-vehicle fleet that would include 54 electric vehicles. Benefits include] lower operating costs, reduced parking requirements, reduced carbon dioxide emissions and a potential starting point for a public car share scheme…[The fleet could be operational by mid-2017]…In April, Christchurch's first electric vehicle charging station was installed [and five fast-chargers around Christchurch will be installed] by the end of the year.” click here for more
