This Wind Turbine Is Cheaper Than An iPhone – And Can Power Your Home

Matthew Kirby, November 3, 2016 (Konbini)

“…[In the heart of India,] two brothers are working on making sustainable energy affordable to the common man…[The most recent creation of Arun and Anoop George’s Avant Garde Innovations] is a small-scale wind turbine that will be priced at Rs 50,000 (around £600) – about the same price as the latest Apple iPhone…[It is] the size of a ceiling fan and can generate three to five kilowatt hours of electricity each day, enough to power an average-sized home…[The goal is to power over a billion people across the world and lead the transition to 100% clean and affordable energy] to eliminate energy poverty, reduce dependence on struggling state power grids and create energy self sufficiency…[T]he small price of the wind turbine will make it affordable to Indian consumers whose other options are imports…[India has emerged as the fourth-largest installer of wind turbines, after China, Germany and the US] – and it’s still expanding…[because it has] mammoth levels of wind density on its western coast…” click here for more
