Denmark runs entirely on wind energy for a day; 'The transition is fully underway. If we are looking for cheap, competitive and reliable, I don’t see much alternative to wind' says Wind Europe spokesman

"…Denmark’s wind generated enough electricity to power the entire country] on 22 February…[The 97 gigawatt-hours (GWh) was] enough to power 10 million average EU households for the day…Denmark is just the latest example…[In 2016, the UK was powered without coal for 12 and a half hours and both Portugal and Germany] went days on renewables…Wind Europe’s daily wind tool showed [18.8% of that day’s European electricity demand and 52% of Germany’s demand were] met by wind power…[In 2016, Scotland] generated enough wind energy to power almost every one of its households for an entire month and produced more than enough electricity for four straight days…[During 2016,] approximately £27.5bn was invested in [EU] wind energy and nearly 90% of new energy construction was spent on renewables…” click here for more
