“After a likely record [14 GW] year in 2017…[European wind] growth could continue at an average of 12.6 GW for the next four years. Offshore [wind could] represent a quarter of installations…European wind capacity is expected to pass the] 200 GW milestone by 2020…With a quarter of the global market in the next four-year period, the EU could attract more installations than the US and India, but significantly less than China. Wind energy [is] expected to become Europe’s largest renewable source by 2020, [passing hydro power to be about] 16.5% of Europe’s electricity needs…Auctions [show there will be] 27 GW of new capacity in just five countries (Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain and UK)…Over ¾ of installations in the next four years [will be concentrated] in just six countries (Germany, UK, France, Spain, Netherlands and Belgium)…” click here for more
