New Energy Beats Dirty Energy On Cost Around The World
Fossil fuels blown away by wind in cost terms: study
January 13, 2018 (AFP via Yahoo News)
“…[Within two years all New Energy technologies now in commercial use are forecast to fall within the fossil fuel-fired cost range and most will be at or below the cost of fossil fuels generation, according to Renewable Power Generation Costs in 2017 from the International Renewable Energy Agency. New Energy is likely] to cost between three and 10 US cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) by 2020, while the current cost spectrum for fossil fuel power generation ranges from five to 17 US cents per kWh…Drivers for the drop in New Energy prices include continued technological advancements, a more competitive market, and more] experienced project developers…The best onshore wind and solar PV projects are expected to deliver electricity for three US cents or less by next year…[N]ew bioenergy and geothermal projects commissioned in 2017 had global weighted average costs of around seven US cents per kWh…[and concentrating solar power (CSP) and offshore wind are expected to] provide electricity for between 6-10 US cents per kWh by 2020…” click here for more
