    Global New Energy Gains Momentum

Renewables represent one-third of global power production

    L.M. Sixel, May 1, 2019 (Houston Chronicle)

“…New Energy is becoming more popular globally, with 171 gigawatts of renewable power sources added last year…One third of global power comes from renewable sources with hydropower accounting for about half of the total…[But, [according to the International Renewable Energy Agency, hydropower has stopped growing while] solar energy is dominating the growth in renewables, with 94 gigawatts coming on line last year…

Counties in Asia added the most [solar,] including China, India, Japan and the Republic of Korea. Other big solar producers included the United States, Australia and Germany…Global wind energy capacity increased by 49 gigawatts last year…China put on the most at 20 gigawatts and the United States added 7 gigawatts of wind power capacity. Other countries expanding by more than 1 gigawatt included Brazil, France, Germany, India and the United Kingdom.” click here for more
